EVSE Australia Portable Type 1 Charger (10A)
Type 1 (J1772) connector and a genuine 10 A plug. Fills an older PHEV battery overnight.
A plug-in hybrid only pays off if you plug it in. The good news: the Outlander PHEV's battery is small enough for any power point.
Which charger fits depends on the year: Outlander PHEVs before the 2022 model have a Type 1 inlet, and the current generation has Type 2. Its battery is small (about 20 kWh), so a 10 A portable charger on a standard power point refills it from 10% to 100% in about 8.7 hours: comfortably overnight. You don't need a 15 A outlet or a wall charger.
20→80% is the everyday top-up. 10→100% is the worst case: arriving home nearly empty and filling to the top.
| Variant | Inlet | Battery (approx.) | 20→80% on 10A | 20→80% on 15A | 20→80% on 7 kW | 10→100% on 10A | Nights on 10A, 10→100% |

A PHEV battery fills overnight on any power point, so 10 A is all you need. No install.
Yes, with the right connector. Which charger fits depends on the year: Outlander PHEVs before the 2022 model have a Type 1 inlet, and the current generation has Type 2. Check the inlet under the charging flap before ordering.
About 5.8 hours from 20% to 80%, or 8.7 hours from 10% to 100% (about 20 kWh battery). Each hour adds about 13 km of range.
About $3.73 for a 20→80% top-up of the Outlander PHEV (2022+) at 28c/kWh, or $1.33 on a 10c/kWh overnight EV plan, including about 10% charging losses.
Yes. The battery is small enough that a 10 A power point fills it from 10% to 100% in about 8.7 hours. A 15 A outlet or wall charger adds cost without changing how you use the car.
Outlander PHEVs before the 2022 model use Type 1. The current generation (2022 onwards) uses Type 2. Check the inlet under the charging flap.
A Type 1 (J1772) portable charger with a 10 A plug, such as the EVSE Australia Type 1 portable charger (coming soon). It fills the 12–13.8 kWh battery overnight.
No. Powerboards and extension leads aren't built for hours of continuous load. Plug the charger straight into the wall, and stop if the plug or outlet feels hot.
